tigerstyle18 Posted April 17, 2002 Author Posted April 17, 2002 Well I was already halfway through the fellowship of the ring before I was told that I should read the hobbit first. I didn't think it would matter since the hobbit was written after LOTR I believe. Oh well, I already went too far the quitnit now and start with the hobbit. When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
ZeRo Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 i wouldnt say the hobbit was vital to read before. it jst gets the background of how he finds the ring. but its a very good book. i love LOTR to and harry potter. does anyone kno when the new book is comeing out? what did people prefer the films of LOTR or harry potter? i prefered LOTR but both worth seeing.
jdash Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 ummm...correct me if I am wrong but no, the hobbit was written long before LOTR was finished. James
jdash Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 and lol, I haven't read a single Harry Potter book or seen the movie, don't really have any interest in it so I will take your word for it that it is good (sort of looked a little 'stupid' to me, sorry ) Everyone to their own opinion I guess. YODA Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 Yes - JRRT wrote The Hobbit first - then LOTR, Then later he went back & made a few ammendments to The Hobbit so that things gel better. I read all the Harry Potter books to my youngest daughter - we loved them & look forward to the new one! But they're not in the same class as LOTR. ..... and don't get me started on Star Wars YODA2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.ukQualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.ukQualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology)
tigerstyle18 Posted April 17, 2002 Author Posted April 17, 2002 Why did I think the Hobbit was written after LOTR. Sometimes these useless bits of faulty information just get lodged in my brain. When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
