tigerstyle18 Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 After watching the first movie, The Fellowship of the ring, I was inspired to start reading the books. I'm halfway through the first book. It is so good. I would encourage evryone to read the series. When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
YODA Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 I've read the books many times I saw the film 5 times when it was on over here I have the film on VCD, on SVCD and on DVD I have the 13 CD BBC Audio adaptation & The 1977 Animation. You could say I'm a bit of a fan YODA2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.ukQualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.ukQualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology)
SaiFightsMS Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 I can remeber passing the sections of Lord of the Rings around during study hall while I was in high school. No matter how many times I have read it since then how is it possible to keep track of all the interconnected lore?
jdash Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 One of my favorite series of all time, read the books many times, the movie I saw twice (wanted to see it again, but didn't get the chance).
Phantasmatic Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 I really like the series but it is hard to understand if you don't read The Hobbit first, IMHO. "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
Deathcometh Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 Ya I've wanted to read them all but I haven't had time.
YODA Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 Yep - reading The Hobbit is a must. I read it to both my daughters when they where each 6 - now they're both hooked There's another "Fantasy Trilogy" that I'm a fan of - but I bet you've guessed that one huh? tigerstyle18 Posted April 17, 2002 Author Posted April 17, 2002 wait is it crucial to read the hobbit first. I have it and I know it is a prequel but since I already have a grasp on the story, I was gonna read it afterward. Would that be a problem? When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
jdash Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 yes, you need to read The Hobbit, There and Back Again first I would say it gives you a better grasp of characters background and there are tons of 'hints' to it in LOTR.
