marie curie Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I agree. Gracie was out-matched by Hughes. Of course, it has to be said that Matt Hughes is the best right now. Could he Gracie have take someone who wasn't the best of the best? Maybe- he didn't seem to be in a good mental place going in. I mean on the ads he was talking about how it was his house, he built it, but he just did not look his confidant "I'm just going to win" self going into this. What suprized me was how little he actually accomplished back. I expected a better game if it was on the ground. ShotokanKid Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 BTW, the fight is available on youtube.com for anyone who cares to view it. Actually, "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.". ShotokanKid Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Never mind, I found one... too bad he got beaten, I wanted Gracie to win. I thought Gracie would lose, but I didn't really expect him to lose on the ground, I expected him to get knocked out while standing. ShotokanKid Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Did Gracie's arm break? Was Gracie knocked out? I saw it on Youtube and it looked like he was moving after the ref stopped the match. scottnshelly Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I'm not sure if his arm broke, but I don't think so. He may have been temporarily knocked out but he was up and walking around after the fight.
marie curie Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 No, he wasn't knocked out. He got right up... but if you saw his face, he was quite beaten. I don't think that his arm broke, simply because he looked like he was using it fine afterwords, but I wouldn't be completely shocked to find out that it was. granmasterchen Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 i think it might have "popped" or hyperextended, but i dont think it broke either. That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
P.A.L Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 i was amazed by the way he handle the arm bar, it looked like he was not concern at all, at the same time he was working on matt's leg. also the way he scaped , he knee kicked matt on the rib and tried to sweep, this gave him the chance to turn his forearm in, and matt didn't try for kimura. he was not KO at all and i think Refree could give him another extra 5-10 sec. in replay i could see most of the matt punches were brushing over his temple, but i think BIG JOHN is a excellent and smart refree, if he stoped it then so be it, although i lost $50 extra to $75 dinner/service fee/gratitude fee/bribery in a packed bar.... not worth it at all.i was suprised that more than %90 of people were Graice fans.
Kajukenbopr Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Matt Hughes is my hero!!! <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty
BLueDevil Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I cant say I was the least bit suprised. I think George St.Pierre is going to take Matt in the next fight. His stand-up makes Hughes look stupid, and his ground game easily meets Matt's. GSP Next WW champ! There is no teacher but the enemy.
