niel0092 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Just wanted to vent a little here. I lost my folding knife today while at work. I was working in one of our facilities and went to use my knife and it was gone. The only thing I can figure is that it slipped out of my pocket or came unclipped at some point durring the day. I've looked around for it but as I work at a large University chances are someone found it and it's gone for good. Nuts! Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion for a new knife to buy? The one I lost was a Gerber Paraframe with a serrated edge, pocket clip, thumb assist open, and it was a frame lock. It was about $25. Mostly I use the knife for work (boxes, tubing, etc) but like to have a knife on me for the 0.0005% chance I may need it for "other" reasons as well. (Yeah, not too likely to ever use it for self defense but it's nice to have)Any suggestions? "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare
UseoForce Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I like Gerber knives too, but I'm resolved that from now on I'll only buy knives that are made in the USA, if I can help it. Theres so many good folders out there, go to a sporting goods or hunting store and take your time picking out one you like. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
niel0092 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Yeah, think I'll do just that. I'll let ya know what I find. "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare

Pacificshore Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Columbia River Knife and Tool(CRKT) makes good knives nowadays and are rather inexpensive. I too lost one of my folders at work, and it was a good one too with a spring assisted opening blade. Man was I bum when I lost it. I now won't carry a knife at work over $30. niel0092 Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 I ended up buying a smith and wesson tactical folder. It fits the need for an inexpensive work knife, right size too. Thanks for the input folks! "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare
ShotokanKid Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Glad to hear you replaced it... what model is it and where did you get it from? niel0092 Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 It's a Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops, about $10 from Smokey Mountain knife works. Yeah it's cheap, but I have plenty of expensive knives and I'd really rather not gunk one of those up at work or risk losing it. This one's just an inexpensive work horse for me "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare
