baronbvp Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I must go to different bars than you guys. I never get in fights. You'd be amazed how buying a guy and his buddies a beer can diffuse a situation. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
bushido_man96 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I have been to the bars as well, and have never been into a fight myself, either. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
learning kempo-karate Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Hello, I really enjoy reading most of the post. Keep in mind an average of 26,000 Americans die each year from Stupid fights...sometime getting push down and hit your head on the curbs, and die.Control you EGO'S and pride. Be humble. A well train martial artist always knows about awareness and avoiding any bad confrontations. They also learn to stay away from places that will get you into trouble.VERBAL JUDO is a great book to read! So is the Gift of Fear. The harder you train your mind and body...the easier it becomes to end a conflict quickly. Best to run/leave and not fight. Live longer that way....Aloha

Red89 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Interesting topic, I have read through all the posts and some good stories people are telling.I would say I am a rather decent person when it comes to fighting, like in the dojo when sparring I hit hard, etc. but in school Im always very reluctent to use any force on other guys. Even when we are only messing around for fun, I can feel them hit me really hard and laugh, yet I tend to always be soft. When i was younger I really hurt someone in a fight, I guesse im now abit "scared" to hurt someone? Although, if I do ever get into another real fight, Im mentally ready to hit hard!As for the combo, hmm, well a good one I think would be a left jab followed up by a right downwards elbow strike to the face (over-shoulder i think you call it, or over-hand elbow)Or if you think your kicks are strong, especially for Muay Thai people, you could try firing a low roundhouse as hard as you can and see the person be lifted off their feet onto the ground!
shift Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I fought once outside of competition. I was a Tae Kwon do practitioner at the time. I was at a party and I got into an argument with someone and I though my beer in the persons face (I was young and egotistical at the time). A security guard came over, instead of talking to me he decided to wack me over the eye with his CB radio. I saw a flash of white when i got hit, luckily I didn't get knocked out.I kicked him off with a front thrust kick to create some room then he started throwing punches and I tried to block them (inside palm blocks) but my hand timing was off. I was blocking either before he punched or after. Luckily his punches were missing, because I was backing up. It was dark so he just looked like a shadow to me. I saw his hand go by his waist and I immediately thought "GUN" so I rushed him and grabbed his hand and held it down to prevent him from pulling whatever it was he was pulling. I then realised he was putting back the CB radio so he could fight better. He tried to throw me to the ground, but luckily (I seem to use the word luckily alot don't I?) in class the day before I was sparring with my instructor, and he pulled the same hip throw on me and I was practicing all night to not get thrown again like that. This was where it got bad for the security guard. I reversed the hip throw on him and when he landed I mounted him and started ground and pounding him. Another security guard snuck up and tackled me from behind but I was so filled with adrenaline I shrugged him off hard and grabbed the security guard I was beating on and put him in a rear naked choke until I heard the other security guard and my friends pleaing with me to let him go, so I did. The Guard was half passed out. But he quickly regained consciousness and he wanted to continue fighting, but the security prevented him and the escorted me out of the party in a head lock.I then explained what happened and they decided that the guard was wrong to approach me by hitting me so they let me back in and gave me free beers the rest of the night.I think the free beers part had a lot to do with the fact that the guy who kept the party is part of my Tae Kwon Do class.Since then I left Tae Kwon do and joined Kung Fu because they teach ground fighting and sanshou My MMA Comic
masterintraining Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 someone may have said this already and if so my apologizes; my Dojo is a little different when it comes to sparring, we have pads but we dont really used them unless its a belt test, because they want to let us incorperate all of are techniques, inlcuded shots to head. and because of that i have a pretty good idea what works and doesn't work, my mantis backfist hurts a good bit because i have tried to mold it after my sifu's ( though mine has only bout1/6 the force behind it) and i can test it own actually fighters frequently. you must learn different combinations of techniques down to your very soul and they must come without thinking when you finish with one technique, you must immediately go into another until you have attained your goal which is to destroy the enemy.
Full Tang Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 uh once i was at school and some idiotas wanted a fight (never tell people you know martial arts) i said i didnt want to and walked away. but these guys wouldnt let up they kept harrasing me untill one of them threw a rock at me so i turrned to face him and got into baisic Jeet stance he came running up and swung for my head so i ducked low and slammed my kick guard elbow into his ribs and used a reverse hip throw the fight didnt last after that
boyo1991 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 one hit ends the fight usually "ok, well i must warn you, im an orange belt on karateforums!"
bushido_man96 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 one hit ends the fight usuallyThis is not the case that I have ever been exposed to. How do you get it to happen this way? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
