And please notice: "Kata master", "Kumite master", "Arashi", "Kumo", "Tsunami" etc. aren't real Tokaido uniforms. They are not made in Japan. Original Tokaido models are SAW, AW, BW, SAB, NST, TSA, TAW and KTW. See the last comment here to find more information about it.

Those copies can be good uniforms, too - still, they're not real Japanese made Tokaido.

I see Jussi already answered... Sorry.

It's amazing that people can get away with selling these uniforms as 'Tokaido' when they aren't really made in Japan by Tokaido.

Just a thought, 100% cotton heavyweight uniforms are a bear to keep unwrinkled. I can pull mine (100% heavyweight cotton shureido) straight from the dryer to the ironing board, iron it completely, and still have wrinkles in it just from putting it on.

I've had great luck with 12 oz 50/50 Generic uniforms from Century. Wear really well, and much more inexpensive than a Shureido.

I still have not ordered yet :( . Tokaido, Shureido, and Hirota all seem pretty good at the moment. The main difficulty is choosing the right size. It would be good if their websites had the exact measurements (jacket, sleave lengths etc.). I guess this is one of the disadvantages of not living in Tokyo. You would have better access.

Shureido has their measurement chart online here.

Tournament cuts are one size bigger, etc. size 6 of "traditional size" is similar to the size 5 "tournament size".

Sleeve lengths etc. aren't so important - tournament cut is shorter, "traditional cut" is full length and can be shortened by a local tailor.

Of course, you can let them know what measurements you want and get a tailor made one.

Tx.

Also, Shureido were good enough to send me the measurements for their tournament cut uniforms this morning. I will pick it up later today. If anyone wants this information then I can pass it on.

I have a tournament cut Tokaido, it has served me well for several years and it is very high quality. I've never worn Shureido but my instructor does and swears by it.

I've always worn a Tokaido Tournament Cut uniform, but recently, my new instructor talked me into getting the Pro Force Diamond Heavy Weight uniform, and I actually like it better....and the price is better too.

I finally got my Shureido gi altered, and as of now I am very pleased with it :).....it has become my fav gi :D

It really absorbs the sweat nicely....feels like it can stand on its own after a nice hard workout like today's sparring session ;)
