Scummy Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 any one know how to go about getting on the US olympic team im thinking about taking this very serously and am curious
red dawn Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 The only thing I can think of is going to the their official website. start here. The last question might help. http://www.olympic.org/uk/utilities/faq_detail_uk.asp?rdo_cat=10_37_0There is probably some official office or person you have to contact. I never said it wasn't dangerous.
Whitefeather Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Are you talking about TKD? Your style is supposedly Goju Ryu, and, if somebody knows better please correct me, I believe that Karate is not in the olympics yet, only TKD and Judo. Rather lame, in my opinion, that Karate is not in yet, but so it rolls.Regards,David "Between genius and insanity, there lies a fine line. Anbu Alex Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Hmmm thats weird that Karate isnt in the olympics but tkd is i hope karate and wushu are added sooner or later White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
danbong Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I think the first thing you should do is to enter TKD tournaments with olympic style rules. ichi-go ichi-e 一期一会one encounter, one chance
red dawn Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Hmmm thats weird that Karate isnt in the olympics but tkd is i hope karate and wushu are added sooner or lateryea, it would also be interesting to see jujitsu and maybe even aikido. But heck I would like to see jousting. I and I think aikido could use the recognition. Also, I've never watched TKD in the olympics. What competitions do they do? (Spar, kata, etc.?) I never said it wasn't dangerous.
Whitefeather Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I think the first thing you should do is to enter TKD tournaments with olympic style rules. That is a good call. Yah. From what I have heard/seen of TKD tournaments, you probably will not fare very well coming from Karate. If nothing else, the judges will be very slow to give you a point for anything aside of a kick (at least so I figures).Good Tidings and Luck, Should You Need Them,David "Between genius and insanity, there lies a fine line. Menjo Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Just to add a thought.I'm very glad that any style of Karate is not in the Olympics, with that kind of popularity, finding a decent dojo would be difficult. The Olympics would add such popularity that karate already has, that alot of good training would get lost.
