patusai Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I was given instruction and that was the only way to do it. I had no choice unfortunately. "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
Brandon Fisher Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Typically they are all tired the same in square or traingle not. Japanese Karate styles are typically with the square knot. The biggest difference in tying the belts normally is whether is crossed in the back or not. But I have seen masters and grandmasters of the Okinawan, Japanese and Korean styles all tie their belts the same way.The belt system came from Judo so the way I see it is it all should be similar when you get right down to it. knarfster Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 People tie Belts differently in our dojo thanthey did 20 years ago. I see most of the newer black belts (in last 10 years) now use a "judo" type knot.
IcemanSK Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 It varies so much between arts & styles....Heck, even schools within an art can be different. The best way is to learn how your instructor wants it done & do it that way. JMO Being a good fighter is One thing. Being a good person is Everything. Kevin "Superkick" McClinton
