Taikudo-ka
Although I don't do Kyokushin personally, I know it was founded by Mas Oyama, who was a renowned "tough" and street fighter in his younger days, so I'd imagine it'd be quite effective and practical. I understand Kyokushin puts more emphasis on breaks and power technique than some other schools. KarateForums.com - Sempai

tigerstyle18
whoa, whoa, bjjbarbie I may be confused on the lingo. By 300 man kumite do you mean he sparred 300 guys like all at once, one at a time in a row, or am I way off base on this one??? When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded. Taikudo-ka
Na... Not at once He did, I think, 100 per day for three days, or thereabouts. Each fight is in sequence, he didn't actually have to "win" each one, just complete it and carry on... Perhaps someone can enlighten us on the exact rules of this, i.e what constitutes a "fight" and a "win"? KarateForums.com - Sempai
tigerstyle18
Wow, that's still pretty impressive! Thanks for the info!!! When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
Morgray
Good style. If you want a tough style that could be a good choice. It emphasizes more sparring and conditioning than kata. Kyokushin started a different form of competition in Japan: Knockdown Full Contact Karate. Any related style would be OK too (Ashihara, Shidokan, Daido-Juku, Seido Kaikan, Byakuren Kaikan,...) KG
Kyokushinkai is a mix of Shotokan, goju ryu and various other styles, such as Muay Thai etc. Most of the Kata's come straight from Shotokan. In the 100 man Kumite, you have to fight 100 people, you don't have to win every fight, although the rule of thumb is its quicker to knock them out, that way you are more likely to complete the kumite. You can't lose, or get knocked down for more than five seconds or its over.
Ai Hate
from what i read, mas oyama fought 52 bulls in his life time. killing 3. it's said he stopped because some heal the world org asked him to (killing bulls is not the nicest thing to do, you know). i've also read that he was going to fight a bear, but didn't due to funding problems..
