living in such a diverse country myself (canada) we have so many different ethniticities here...

everyone does not follow the same god...we have a huge population of orientals, middle easterners that follow Islam, sikhs, hindus, catholics etc. each religion or ethnic group follow their own idea of what god really is......

now if you go to public schools you get alot of different people from different backgrounds therefor they have their own idea of what god is.....so thats why religion is kept out of public school. also religion can really brew up fights and so on between parents and teachers and students among other students. religion has caused so much war and death.....look whats going on in Isreal right now

if you want to practice your religion in your school go to a catholic school or a school that teaches religious fundementals of your background be it Islam, Sikhism or whatever

another thing........say you start teaching catholicism (excuse my spelling) in a public school with so many kids with so many backgrounds and different religions.....you are conflicting with what their parents want to teach them religion wise and you are going to get alot of angry parents

just keep religion out of public schools

People should be allowed to take religion in school but not in government paid for public schools. Unless all religions are studied.

When you think about it would the world not be a better place if we only had one supreme being that everyone worshipped.

Maybe every religion is worshipping the same being but in differant ways.

How many people die in the name of religous causes every year. Look at the middle east,Ireland and India just to name a few places.

How many people died due to the Christian slauhter in the crusades or in Germany in WW2. We are all basically the same with only slight differences in DNA.

Instead of looking for faults in people how about looking for positive things.

The lack of religion in schools does not cause killing in the buildings. It is the lack of respect for other people that eventually causes problems.

Do not feed me the story that the teachings of God preach understanding and respect when people kill and commit crime in the name of their God.

Many religious people are the least understanding people I know. They go to their church on Sunday but they do not lead "religous live" the other six days of the week.

Sorry for ranting but this topic bugs me.

I say give them an opinion... if there is no religon then they can be taught whatever socialist propaganda that the teacher pleases...

Seperation of Church and state was orginally ment to State not controlling the Church. Like Italy making it official that everyone be Roman Catholic. It wasn't ment to be no religon at all..

Do unto others, as they done to you.

I consider the teaching of religion to children tantamount to child abuse, especially religions that threaten eternal damnation or the equivalent to anyone who doesn't follow the teachings.

I don't care what gods anyone believes in providing they do not try and indoctrinate young people before they are old enough to form their own opinions.

I'm betting you have a specific religion in mind, and it ain't Buddhism or Wicca, right? That's where it all falls apart--to me, teaching Christianity or any one religion would be no better than pushing "socialist propaganda." A public school is not the right place for either.
