pineapple Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 depends...is harm imminent? Can you flee? Are there witnesses?dittoIf I knew that the fight was unavoidable, I would throw the first punch. What works works

tke010 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 be aware of your surroundings. (does he have friends sitting around the room, are they all near him\her, do they look they could attack you too, can you put an object such as a chair\table between yourslef and the attacker...) avoidance is key, because every fight has consequences...(hospital, jail,...)you should put your hands up (fingers open), state loudly that you don't want any problems, and begin to walk to the exit.if your attacker begins to attack you, then you need to defend yourself and get out of there before his\her friends attack you. Anbu Alex Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 TKE fist of all i like your sig now to the question i agree with everyone you could try faking you are scared keeping you hands up in a hidden defense so u are ready for an attack if u are in a situation where u are going to be in a fight no matter what i say end it kick finish the opponent with the first move White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
getawaytkd Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 "self-defense" if u hit him first, its not really considered self-defense now is it? it is if hes about to attack, but if you FEEL he is going to, your actions may not be justified

I may not be able to if he hits me at a weak spot. Everyday is a fight
pocketcoffee Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Weak spot? What is a weak spot? Get hit? Isn't that what training is for? what do i know, i'm an idiot.
ShotokanKid Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I was taught to put both hands up with the palms out... one of the black belts (who is also my doctor) said to do this and try to calm them down. This serves as a non-threatening, "I'm unarmed and don't want trouble" position but also as a guard; you are protecting your body and you can drive your fingers into his eyes if he starts to attack. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
Existence_is _suffering Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 If he's just a jock venting his insecurities on you, put a slight smirk on your face, calmly take two BIG steps backwards, and walk away, shaking your head with an amused grin... Or just put your hands up and casually say something like "I don't want to fight!".... HOWEVER, if the guy is a raving psycho, wait until physical contact is made (I mean a shove etc. If he launches a full-blown hay-maker at you, dodge/parry/evade )and then launch a counter and make a get away if you can... The first person to call me mate gets a punch in the throat...
