Blackbeltblonde Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Granted a boat oar is a little cumbersome.. but can you honestly say that you could withstand a couple blows from one? If the person using it knows HOW to use it correctly.. Heck yeah that thing is going to be effective!~BBB Training 14 yearsKalkinodo Blackbelt
lordtariel Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Thanks for the replies and the video. I've also read that story about Musashi and Kojiro, that's when Musashi gave up using katanas and started using bokken right? There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Blackbeltblonde Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Yeah, he stopped using Katanas because he was unbeatable and didn't want to kill anyone anymore.. so he settled for beating them with sticks lol ~BBB Training 14 yearsKalkinodo Blackbelt

Holland Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I actually have learned the kata he performed on that video. I was told it was called shorinryu shorinkan no eku dai ich, but names are often different in different circles. Its a pretty neat kata and I teach it in my kobudo class. If you are good with a bo, you will do well with an eku.
