GhostFighter Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I want to mix these two arts, would it cause any conflict with the training? Everyday is a fight
SubGrappler Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Guess it depends on the quality of krav instructors that you're training with and what kind of kickboxing you're doing- just the term "kickboxing" is incredibly vague. As far as the krav maga, in theory its a solid style to train in, but there is a much greater amount of krav instructors who dont know what they're teaching than vice versa, and as a result, many of the instructors simply resort to limiting their teaching to deadly techniques.what area are you in? (city state?)
ki master Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 it depends on alot of things mental phisical and ability to learn "Now the valiant can fight; the cautious can defend, and the wise counsel. Thus there is none whose talent is wasted."-Li Ch'uan-
glockmeister Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I want to mix these two arts, would it cause any conflict with the training? No, why would it? Kickboxing (I am talking about real kickboxing, not really the cardio kind) will help you with your overall stand-up fighting skills. You should be doing some kind of kickboxing type sparring in your KM class anyway. The only thing is some styles of kickboxing teach only kicks above the waist while other allow kicks to legs, etc.. In KM, we generally trained to use low kicks and to try and land more with out shins rather than higher kicks with our feet only. "You know the best thing about pain? red dawn Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I want to mix these two arts, would it cause any conflict with the training?no, I would say they pretty much go hand in hand. A lot of the punches and kicks used in krav are like the ones in kickboxing except you are using them in defense. (though some will vary) My old dojo teaches both. I never said it wasn't dangerous.
