patusai
In the beginning they were assassins plain and simple. Today I am not sure what the heck the training is for....self defense but they do not act as assassin types anymore...or do they??? Fairfax_Uechi
You know, I watched an excellent show on The Learning Channel, The History Channel, or Discovery (sorry I couldnt narrow it down) about several different styles of Martial Arts and one was about the ninja. Only they called it Ninjutsu. The Master taught several students but only shared Ninja secrets (like the "burning powder in eggs" previously mentioned) with one student whom he thought worthy to pass on the history. Excellent program. I have seen it a couple of different times. You might actually be able to go to one of those channels websites and find out more about the program and that particular dojo. (the school was not in U.S. IN fact, the instructor barely spoke english.)I've seen this several times. For some reason, I got a funny feeling about this though. It seems odd that they would pass along the information to an American. I can understand that many of the techniques, but the scroll and other things that only he was to see. Some how this just didn't seem to be fully legit. Maybe I'm just a big skeptic but it just seemed phoney to me.Now with that said, I thought the techniques were pretty good, and the way they used things as weapons was excellent. The concepts were good. I just felt that the instructor was shady.

patusai
The only place to learn about real ninja ishttp://www.realultimatepower.netQ: I heard that ninjas are always cruel or mean. What's their problem?A: Whoever told you that is a total liar. Just like other mammals, ninjas can be mean OR totally awesome. I am confused as to the definition (as pulled from the attached web site) of totally awesome is. I didn't know that real ninja advertised their art..espcially showing the face. Must be a modern day version of the ninja My understanding of ninja's is that they are assissins. These guys don't strike me as assissins though I may be incorrect "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
Fenris-wolf
Oo, reading the hatemail at realultimatepower.net cracked me up - I'm sure the guys from the ninjitsu club near us take themselves that seriously. (We spar with them sometimes)I commented on someone having a "Ninja - masters of the night" (or something like that) t-shirt... He was all like "What? That's what we are!" Oo, recently saw Tongan Ninja (if you like stupid, satirical humour, look that movie up)... Makes me want to go to sparring with those dudes and make fun of them. How can anyone take themselves that seriously?! Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
