I have not yet promoted anyone in my school to black belt.

I want to know how it felt for you when you promoted your first student to black belt and is that person still committed to training with you? What is your relationship like with your first black belt?

I myself have never promoted anyone to black belt, but i have promoted students to other belts and it's always a great feeling to see a student progress. It always makes me proud especially when I know as student has worked hard. :D

I never said it wasn't dangerous.

I am not the instructor for our school, I just help out. That said, the school I go to has promoted around nine people to blackbelt, myself included (although that number might change this afternoon; good luck guys!). Out of those nine, one dissapeared the moment he got it, four got busy with college, and four are now nidans and actively training/helping.
