tkdan
At age 41 I started TKD tranning. I'm 42 now. My goal is to earn a black belt by the age of 45. Just wondering if anyone else is working towards a similar type of goal, or has been successful in completing their goal.
stoneheart
Weight loss was my motivation in rejoining the martial arts. I'm still about 20 lbs away from my ideal weight but am making good progress towards losing the excess pounds, and I am enjoying studying martial arts in of itself. Truestar
Weight was a motivation, as an American teenager I'm able to go obese if I'm not careful. (Hey it's our culture )So while I'm not "fat" I'm a little on the chubby side, so that was one main reason. Another would be because I needed an extra activity to do. Otherwise I would be 100% computer geek. One last one is the knowledge of self-defense, and the other skills I'm taught. It's good to know how to defend yourself, even if it's not physically. I think Martial Arts can give a boost in confidence. Not only that, but learning to be more controlling of yourself, and sharpening those skills, oh say: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverence, Self Control, Indomitable spirit. I've stayed in Tae-Kwon-Do this long, so it must be motivational enough.

frightmaster
Since I can remember I wanted to study the arts. Now that I can afford it I study TDK WTF style. T\his encludes at least 3 days per week, weight training, swimming, endurance and lots of stretching. I am testing in March this year after 3 years and at age 39 I will get my dream. When I get my BB I will the begin to learn the advance styles of the basics I learned. Very exciting time and I wish you luck with your goals/dreams. February 24, 2007 I received my Black Belt in WTF TKD.
tkdan
stone & true the two of you could not have picked a better form of physical fitness in my opinion. And as true stated there are many other benefits other than fitness. Dragon that's an awsome goal. How old are you? Foof good luck. Fright that must be great to be that close to a dream. I too have always loved matial arts. I have finaly got to a place in life where schedule and finances are such that I can go for it myself.
