Akaratechick Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I can do american splits cold, (side) but chinese (center) can almost but not quite do. I can do a front snap kick and touch my face with my toes, but my high kicks lack power, unless I do a tai roundhouse and then no matter how high it is, it's strong. I'm 5'9 and I've always attributed it to my build. I can't side kick high at all, and breaking boards with a side kick is a challenge for me as well. My legs are long and slender and very flexible, I think that decreases my power, just a thought.... "All your life you are told the things you cannot do. They will say you're not good enough, strong enough or talented enough; you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO, a thousand times no, until all the no's become meaningless. ………..…. “AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES."Nike Ad.
bushido_man96 Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 You just need to build up your side kick muscles more. Trying doing some lifting, and some explosive exersices. That will help build side kick power. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Akaratechick Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I think you are right, and as soon as my fractured foot heals, I can get serious about my training again. marie curie Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I think that more than anything practicing kicking helps kicking, but if one is inflexible enough, split stretching can make a difference.
