Yep.. That's what new agers call it. But I'm sure you know your gut feeling? LIke you just "feel" something's wrong and something bad happens? I'm sure everyone has it. Maybe it's just a coincedence, but before something really bad happens, like my dog dying :bawling:, I get that feeling.

But I guess you don't wanna believe.. That's fine with me, a lot of people can't accept things that can't be explained my science.

It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.

I practice at night in a multi-purpose room inside the building where I live. If I time it right I don't meet any other residents. Just in case though, I have to be alert to the prescence of others entering the area. I about gave someone heart failure one night getting carried a way on a kiai practicing kata. I think the old man visiting the soda machine did something in his pants.

That aside, there are also bathrooms in the back of the room when it is open during business hours. I was practicing a bo kata one day and during a turn someones grand daughter just happened to walk out of the bathroom as I was turning to do a strike to that direction. (NO I did not hit the kid)

Practicing like that helps make me more aware of my surroundings at other times as well. Like when I am outside of the building. We should be more aware of our surroundings than most of us are.

That is a kind of "sense".

Jiggy, we don't have any "formal" exercises. We just do a whole lot of techniques, so there is a lot of touching already. Personally, I try not to look at the pressure point I'm about strike or press, just feel the contour of the muscle to find it. The same goes for joint locks, etc.

I don't remeber which art you're in. If it's all striking, then developing touch won't help much.

I believe that we have another sense better known as the third eye. All it does is let people sense when other people are around so in war if you were on patrol and you had used this sense before and know how to use it ambush would be almost impossible.

Well I guess when I am working out I am working on my breathing so that I don't have to stop and take lots of gulps of breaths really quicklt or if I go running so that I am in a better condition.

i like to feel things when I practice, me and my friend sit down and someone goes behind us and puts their hand either on the left side of our faces or our right side of our faces. Then we touch the hand. We do this to increase our awareness of people around us. It really does work!!!

Chi is VERY real!! Mostly it helps to be naturaly sensitive though. When I spar with friends I can begin to predict their moves at points...imagine being one step ahead of your apponent. An experienced MA can do this easily becaues of their years of training they tend to be a lot more sensitive to Chi. People who just point, laugh, and judge are so friggin' stupid. A MA always need to be open to new ideas.
