Pacificshore Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 How many here have worked on developing your other senses, other than sight, when working out? And what were/are some of the excercises that you used to develop your other senses? Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
tigerstyle18 Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 The development of chi or ki is supposedly developed through dynamic tension. When two tigers fight, one dies and the other is mortally wounded.
rabid hamster Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 You know the thing those new age people call, "sixth sense" or basically your gut feeling? Like having someone behind you and without looking you know "someone" or "something" is there? What you do is just bring your awareness all around the room. I don't think that made sense, but it's kinda hard to explain.. Hope it does make sense. Cya Hiya It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.
YODA Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 We spend a lot of time developing tactile awareness, or sensitivity. Taikudo-ka Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 I like to train my hearing, because I'm also into music, and I think that of all senses other than sight, hearing would be the most useful in a fight. I also protect it by not listening to stuff TOO loud... hahaha you know "boom box cars" are said to actually be able to cause internal damage, in addition to deafness... my sister's friend actually siffered a bleeding nose in some guy's car because the stereo was so loud, and they were both in the back, right beside it. That CAN'T be good for you... Must be pretty distruptive of the ol' Ki. KarateForums.com - Sempai
SBN Doug Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 Due to all the pressure points, and joint manipulations, we do the same as YODA. Sence of touch is crucial for our advanced techniques. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
G95champ Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 My eyes are not very good so I have better hearing than most. Thus I think I use it a lot espically when walking own the street. I hope no one is practicing taste. LOL..... We do a lot of reaction drills as well. Like several fo you said above. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
SaiFightsMS Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 Like when you stand next to the same people in class over time. You start to be able to sense where they are. So you don't step on each other doing kata. Or turning around in a line drill or kicking someone. There where those I stood next to that I could tell where they were. And those that look out we're gonna' step on each other! I have to admit I have done somework blindfolded. But, very badly. I had to get sports goggles to spar in I am too blind to spar in safety without them. It was terrifying the times I tried.
shotochem Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 We have also on ocassion tried "blindmans kata" it really changes your balance and perception with your eyes closed..... Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
