Connecting with the square of the ball of foot, directly under the big toe is quite the same as striking/punching connecting with two knuckles.

Where I come from this is used to break opponents jaw, floating rib or cause internal throat damage.

I was wondering another thing about the round kick. When I kick high I always have to turn my hip over a bit more than my leg, which means my back is showing for the opponent. At the point of impact should your hip be in line with your leg, I mean should they be pointing exactly in the same direction?

If I lift my leg straight out to the side I can just get it a little above knee level. I try to stretch but I'm having a hard time getting any more flexible sideways. Or maybe flexibility isn't the issue?

If anyone has got any advice/tips or can tell me what my problem is I would really appreciate it.

I have the same problem. I think flexibility is the isuue- I'm way flexible lots of ways, but not that way :) I keep meaning to work on it, but I forget.
