Whitefeather Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Mine is my life philosophy (that is, for now). "Between genius and insanity, there lies a fine line. I like to think of it as the tip of the diving board."-An anonymous insane genius"Fight I, not as one that beateth the air"
Hidden_Ronin Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Mines also from "The book of five rings". It basically means if it has no use, don't do it. If you don't mean somthing, don't say it.If its not going to be benaficial (sp?) don't do it.It comes from Musashi Miyamotos view that thier should be nothing fancy about swordsmanship, or any other "military science". Your only aim is to destroy your oponent. "Greet your friends with open arms, and your enemies with open hands"
lordtariel Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Mine is a taoist quote from Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching. I use it to remind myself that being content and what I think is being content are usually not the same thing. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Anbu Alex Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Use as much force as needed to defeat your opponent and the other in the world of Martial arts we are always learning "WHITE BELT FOR LIFE" White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
Sohan Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 My first quote is from a famous Japanese Zen master who was an amazing artist as well as a Buddhist monk. His calligraphy moves me as did his approach to life. The other two are from Samarai legend and from the founder of Taoism. I find they fit my philosophy of life perfectly. Respectfully,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Zen Master Nakahara Nantenbo"A man who has attained mastery of an art reveals it in his every action." Samuarai maxim"Knowing others is wisdom; knowing yourself is Enlightenment." Lao-Tzu
greenbelt_girl15 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Mine is from the Bible and has several meanings to me. First; using a scripture verse is to indicate the most important thing in my life, serving God, and second; the verse encompases some of the fundemental philosophies in Cuong Nhu Love and Self-dicipline. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, a spirit of power, and of self-discipline.2 Timothy 1:7

cnada Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 If you're not laughin', you're not livin'!--Carlos Mencia Just think about it, it's SOO true. You gotta laugh every so often in your life(hopefully at least once a day), becuz if you didn't, you'd probably go crazy!Author note: "you" means a general you, not a specific you. If you're not laughin', you're not livin'!--Carlos Mencia
patusai Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Mine is a quote from Gichin Funakoshi. "The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants." .I like that "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt

"you may knock me down 100 times but i am resilliant and will NEVER GIVE UP"
