Adam Ball Posted February 19, 2006 Share Posted February 19, 2006 hmmm. i agree with juey palancu. the rotation really doesnt help much with the power or effectiveness of the kick, it really just gets your kick chambred in the right position to do the kick from your rear leg. the aditional power though that would be there would be from the movement happening already, this would give it added speed when it hits the target therefore more power. In a proper side thrust kick as we're taught, the kicking leg does not come around in a circular motion. Rather, the kicking leg simply moves [directly] toward the supporting leg where the body's weight is. (Moving the kicking foot in an arc would only delay the kick and make balance more difficult.)
