glockmeister Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Lately, it seems whenever I do focus mitt work, I get terrible pain in my elbows and it often goes right up into my upper arm between my biceps and triceps. My training partner/sparring partner said I am probably hyper-extending my elbows when I punch. Thing is, I have done the mitts for years and havent notived this problem before. I wrap my hands and use gloves as well wehn I do mitt work. Anyone else have this problem or have any idea what to do about it?Thanks in advance. "You know the best thing about pain? powerof0ne Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I really am not sure, I would have guessed hyperextending but it could be tendonitis in the elbow, aka tennis elbow. Either way, it sounds like you should go to the doctor if this keeps up. flowing like the chi energy inside your body b =rZa=
glockmeister Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 I am not sure, I would tend to agree witht he hyperextending things becuase it only seems to hurt when I do focus mitts and not when I do work on the heavy bag. AndrewGreen Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 If it ishas been doing this a while go to a doctor and stop doing it for now. Things like this have a nasty habit of becoming permanent if you don't let them heal. Find out what is wrong and how to treat it. If it means taking a month off do it, better a month now then several years later. Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news!
SoonerJohn Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Is this a sharp pain or dull throbbing pain?
TheAnimal Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 if it only happens with focus mits id put my money on hyperextending too. try wrapping your elbows or something? if it persists, go see your sports doc.
