mostsolid Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 well obviously bruce lee ain't greatest kung fu movie hero because he's dead. and if he were still alive i bet he would make more way more movies that are way better then jackie chan or jet li or any other kung fu movie hero
HumanTyphoon Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Well Wong Fei Hung in real life, I heard he defeated a 30 man gang in one encounter, but that might just be me, I'll have to look into that later or something. His skill must have been pretty good... He might not be known as well as Bruce Lee, but he is still one of the greatest. If you take a crooked path and have to go through a cliff. Either hope there is a bridge, or learn to fly.
Little Dragon Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Bruce Lee is more known in america since he was the first to show modern arts to america. Wong fei hung on the other hand is a very well known guy is china,he was a real person in life who fought for justice back in the days of like 1920's.A lot of movie directors use him as a character hero in a lot of kung fu movies. here he is--> http://www.kungfucinema.com/images/articles/2001-04-08-01.jpg ''I know what your thinking.........did I shoot you 3 times? or did I shoot you 472 times?''
Ravencroft Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Wong Fei Hung was amazing...so was Bruce Lee. i honestly dont believe in the whole 30 man gang thing because first of all i think its impossible unless he was fighting a gang of children or he had a machine gun....but still there were fables and stories made after him so what would u expect...obviously hes one of the greatest and a true legend, same goes for Bruce Lee. i try not to compare them cuz they are both infinately better than i will ever be and i respect what theyve done.
Little Dragon Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Fei hung probably did fight 30 men,but he either was also on the verge of death or took them one by one..but it also could be a myth. Both Bruce and Fei are natural hero's.Fei hong for his crime fighting/medical helping and Bruce for showing america chinese culture and being the first big azn superstar in america. There can never be another Wong Fei Hung and Lee Jun Fan(bruce lee).. ''I know what your thinking.........did I shoot you 3 times? or did I shoot you 472 times?''
battousai16 Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 one of the more interesting things about the wong fei hung movies i've seen, i think, is that the same song travels through them. the magnificent butcher, once upon a time in china, drunken master... though i don't think in drunken master 2, now that i think of it... anywho, there's another one that i can't think of off hand... anywho, i found it interesting that he has his own kind of theme song. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
GhostlySykanRyu Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Very interesting...I'll have to look for these movies. To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.
HumanTyphoon Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 one of the more interesting things about the wong fei hung movies i've seen, i think, is that the same song travels through them. the magnificent butcher, once upon a time in china, drunken master... though i don't think in drunken master 2, now that i think of it... anywho, there's another one that i can't think of off hand... anywho, i found it interesting that he has his own kind of theme song. That is true, he does have this cool theme song that always plays when he comes in. It was used in Drunken Master 2, just not in the English version. If check out about any film with Wong Fei Hung, it should be in there, and I find it catchy so it shouldn't be hard to miss. If you take a crooked path and have to go through a cliff.
