AirBorne-karateka Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 does anyone know where I can find some good shorin ryu videos on the net? It is necessary to drink alcohol and pursue other fun human activities. The art (i.e. karate) of someone who is too serious has no "flavor." -motobu
TAZ Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Here is one that has a comparison of katas done by shorin ryu and shotokan. Enjoy! https://www.natkd.com/karate_katas.htm "Blessed be the Lord my Rock, and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight." Psalm 144:1
AirBorne-karateka Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 thanks taz! It is necessary to drink alcohol and pursue other fun human activities. The art (i.e. karate) of someone who is too serious has no "flavor." -motobu
ps1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Wow Taz that's a great site. Does anyone have any others that demonstrate Kata of any system. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
NthDegree Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 since you didn't mention which ryuha, I'll assume you mean any Shorin kata. These are pretty good ones (Matsubayashi-Ryu):http://www.matsubayashi-ryu.net/indexen.html http://www.geocities.com/nthdegree_news
ps1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Thank you Nth Degree. Actually I mean any Kata/ Forms from any system of martial art. Call me a geek, but I love looking for Kata I've never seen before. I find them exciting. I even love to watch different versions of the same kata. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
gimmik_3 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I'd have to agree. Watching katas, poomse (sic) from any discipline is fascinating. A comparison between katas from different karate styles is interesting too.Does anyone have links to TKD or Goju-ryu forms demonstrations?
P.A.L Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 does anyone know where I can find some good shorin ryu videos on the net? Nakazato has a set which too expensive plus you don't know what he is doing is exact kata or he is just too old to do them right, i wish he had made these tapes 20 years ago. i personally like the Matsuda sensei DVD/tape you can find it in Amazon.com we strong performance. Sensei Otta also has a tape 18 kata of Nagamine style but so boring to me.
