The Almighty Ram Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Hi all,I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this, but I am interested in learning how to do a kick up. For example, when I am on the ground, I want to learn to use my legs to bring me up. Many students at my studio are able to do this, but for some reason, I just can't. I have long legs, does this pose a problem? Thanks. Tae Kwon Do 1st degree Black Belt
Jiffy Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Long legs has nothing to do with it, it's about being able to control the main mass of your body. When you are on the floor, put your hands palm down on the floor next to your ears. Lift your legs and hips then flick back the other way. When you do this, think of a pole volter going over the beam, you need to arch your back and then when your feet get about half way back down, flick your upper body up as well with the help of a push from the hands. In a nutshell, that's pretty much it. Just keep practising. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
