makosub-wrestling
I have seen a lot of fights in my day and never saw a single guy or girl out fight a pack. If you are attacked and can not get away your best bet is to curl up and wait for them to get tired of kicking you. The best example I saw was were this guy was behind a group of highschool kids in a drivethru lane and wanted to force the car in front to stop talking to some girls and move. He got out of his car and yelled for the car to move in an agressive manner. Big mistake because that little car was full of six juiced gang members called the Force. He took a real pritty Karate stance while the six kids hit him like a pack of wolves. If you get hit by a battle tested group and you are by your self you are done before the first hit and if you think you got a shot you and your instructor have been watching too many kung fu movies. So you should spend all your time training to fight one on one because most fights are one on one and they are the only fights you got a shot of winning. If one attacker have fun, get bloody, more than one run for cover. As My dad an ex-Navy Seal likes to say: You don't have to like it, you just have to do it. ravenzoom
Great reply, it's only realistic to base your self-defense against one opponent. I'm not saying someone cannot beat two or even three guy if he's very strong and very lucky, but chances are you're gonna get pounded if any of the two or three know anything about giving a punch

I've learned that you can manipulate the situation to your advantage as if your very fast, strong or exellent technique, skilled than you can position yourself and your opponents to only haveing to take on 1-2 attackers at the certain point.I hear aikido practices this. Anyway a unskilled group of attakers may back off if you take out one or two quickly, in thier minds you faught all of them at once... They all got out and I said, "Ok, who is first?"Their response was, "All of us." Then they started beating me! I got some solid hits in, but damn I took a beating. Luckily some people showed up and broke it up. I did feel like that if I could have gotten into a corner, I may have kept them at distance long enough for help to arrive. Its been my experience that people who claimed they can take on multiple attackers have never been in a real life altercation and speculate based on their sparring sessions. I train with people who instruct Aikido- in their words, its not something that you want to be fighting with.

Yep, thats an agreeable statement. However for me(for support), my experiance was getting into a scuffle with three unexperianced "fighters". I used what I said in my post to give an advantage, it had worked for me once. Although I may have just been lucky. Doublelegtakedown
wrestling would be better for the takedowns. as long as the wrestler knew how to get on top and throw a punch i would pick wrestling.i would bjj if the bjj guy had a takedown.wrestling has no finish moves so idk....... RicksonFan
You know, I do know a guy who has taken on multiple (albeit unskilled) opponents. It really takes something like thai boxing, which is powerful, to defeat the guy(s) quickly. Groundfighting is not for multiple attackers, but you'd better know what to do down there to defend and get up when one of them takes you down from behind or something. If you're a lone person fighting a group of three, the chances are very high you're going to end up on the ground (if they're competent in the least). What determines your ability to stay on your feet in a fight is your grappling skill, not your striking skill.
