jaymac Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Why don't you try strengthening your fingers/strikes by using a maki wara board? A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
patusai Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 You can thrust you hand (fingers first) in sand and other substances such as pea graval and such but then I believe that does cause arthritis in the larger finger joints.. cleung Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I use to do them when I was a teen. Haven't done them for over 25 years now. I suppose this type of push up increases the strength of those 3 fingers but then again, there are other ways to do that as well. ShadowFox Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Yea those 3 fingers push up are brutal but they use to strengthen the finger, so then you can do those finger pokes of death that you see in all good karate movies "Martial Arts is kinda like yin and yang when you think about it; it 50% physical and 50% mental"
patusai Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Maybe the puchups can strengthen fingers enough to go through steel beer cans! Not Aluminium mind you "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
karate kid 1 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 just dont try it on 2 fingers lol FEAR is only a four letter wordRORY
Bleeding Lion Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 i can do two finger push ups. one underrated benefit is that is that it strenthens your will. you do them more with your mind than your body. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence thus, is not an act, but a habit. --- Aristotle
Jiffy Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 i can do two finger push ups. one underrated benefit is that is that it strenthens your will. you do them more with your mind than your body.I can second that one! I do three finger pushup faily regularly and thumb/single-finger pushups whenever I can, but it's always my mind that gives out before my fingers. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

And do you do it with 2 fingers or 1 thumb and 1 finger?I can do 2 finger push-ups with both hands with my thumbs and index fingers A drop of sweat spent in practice is a drop of blood saved in a battle.A person who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the man doing it.
Qso Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 The utimate thing would be one finger pushups with your index finger. Only few have mastered this technique. As many posters before me said, you must have strong mind to do this (meditation and chi energy development).
