UseoForce Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 I know, thats the way I always felt, until newbs started asking what were they doing to the guy's arm, and I couldn't provide an intelligent answer. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
striking_cobra Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 that's always a problem with teaching isn't it? " The art of Kung Fu San Soo lies not in victory or defeat, but in the building of human character." Grand Master Jimmy H. Woo
UseoForce Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Actually, I think it is borderline irresponsible to apply a technique without understanding the extent of the damage it could do. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
striking_cobra Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 there's a difference in knowing something works and knowing the exact medical explanation for it's function. one can know how much "damage" a technique might inflict if used to it's fullest extent, and still not care about the scientific theory behind it. or perhaps i'm just silly... karate kid 1 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Different attacks do different things. Sometimes it is breaking a bone, other times it is disslocating, or ripping tendons or ligaments.i agree with AndrewGreen FEAR is only a four letter wordRORY
TheAnimal Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 in just about all cases youre popping tendons and thus "breaking" the arm or whatever at the joint. with chokes, youre cutting off their blood supply to their brain and rendering them unconcious.
