thaiboxerken Posted July 21, 2001 Posted July 21, 2001 Hey, we should all throw away all of our martial arts knowledge. It has been a fallacy. SCARS people have told me that everything martial artists do don't work. They say that their techniques cannot be countered and they cannot be defeated, so I'm gonna go train in SCARS, they have ALL the answers. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Angus Posted July 21, 2001 Posted July 21, 2001 What the hell is SCARS? Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
thaiboxerken Posted July 21, 2001 Author Posted July 21, 2001 SCARS is a fighting system developed by a guy named Jerry Peterson. Supposedly it's 100% effective and scientific. Basically it's just another marketing ploy. Peterson held a green-belt in San Soo and when he decided he wanted to make money, he called it SCARS and came up with some "new" concepts and suckered the US Navy to use if for a little while. The Navy saw that they were duped and don't use SCARS anymore, but the SCARS people won't tell you that part. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Angus Posted July 21, 2001 Posted July 21, 2001 Gees, he mus have been smart if he duped the American government! Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.

Tim Greer Posted July 22, 2001 Posted July 22, 2001 Yeah, but, "SCARS" just sounds so cool. Oh, wait... Would you want to study a martial art (allegedly) that is named after a bad outcome of a fight? How about "Not A Scratch Jitsu"? Regards,Tim Greer -> admin@chatbase.com | Phone: 530-222-7244I study any and every style and I'm always looking to spar!!Also, if I'm not around for a while, I'm just away training.
thaiboxerken Posted July 22, 2001 Author Posted July 22, 2001 but SCARS isn't a martial art, it's a fighting system. Just ask them, there is a huge difference. If you go to the forum http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/scarscombatfightingforum you'll see why we have all been wasting our time with training in martial arts. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Tim Greer Posted July 22, 2001 Posted July 22, 2001 I believe you. But, any system that involved motion, body mechanics and the like, is technically a martial art. However, I did and I guess I wasn't clear enough, say "allegedly", and I don't buy it myself -- and I don't think I'll bother to look at their site to read their information or excuses or claims to find out it's just what we all know it is.
