Kaminari
Does anyone know anything about/practice this martial art? There's a place near me that teaches it, but I really don't know much about it, and their website doesn't go into any detail. For example, do they practice forms? Any kind of sparring, etc.?Thanks.-Kaminari
fallen_milkman
Depends on the school for sparring (most probably do some), but definitely yes on forms. 36 styles of danger

stoneheart
It's perhaps the most "generic" Chinese style. Longfist players fight from the outside, as opposed to medium or short ranges. Many kungfu schools teach Northern Longfist as a first style, as it contains the basics such as the stances and strikes. I've been told secondhand that Longfist has only a few sets, so many students learn another style after completing (not necessarily mastering) the Longfist training. Hundreds of kungfu styles are Longfist variants, so let's give it its due.

elbows_and_knees
long fist is a generic term for pretty much all MA coming from northern china. When I was training CMA, it was a longfist style. Back in the day, most kung fu had few forms, however, today, most have MANY. In terms of shaolin longfist, even though there may be many forms, there are ten core forms that are of utmost importance. the others are sets that were preserved from other styles or were made up somewhere along the way.
