Hi,

Hubby has decided to get me a punching bag (apparently it will be safer for him) So he's been looking around and has now asked me what I prefer. Right now I'm considering a heavy bag with a hydracore. Has any body had experience with this type of bag? Or any suggestions on what they've found works? I do Karate but I suffered a foot injury last year that is taking its time healing (of course if I stopped karate it probably would heal fine :P)

Thanks,

Liana

I've used the water core bags, and the sand filled bags, and everything in between. I have no real preference, except that I don't like a canvas covering. I tend not to use bag gloves, so I would like to keep my knuckles covered with the skin they came with. Otherwise, if you have a foot injurey, I would suggest a lighter bag. You should use a bag that will give when you kick into it, and not just sit there, letting your foot take all the punishment.

D/T the foot injury I would lean towards one of the water filled bags. At least the one I tried out at a school gave quite a bit more than the sand one's I've used. On the other hand I've preffered the vinyl Everlast heavybags. Have to agree, canvas is hard on the skin :o

Getting a blackbelt just says you have learned the basics and are ready to actually study the form as an art.
