Tiger1962 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I agree, this is an excellent article and would be perfect for ANY style of martial arts school to hand out to prospective students.I also have to put my 2 cents in here - martial arts is a great stress reliever. I notice the difference in how I feel when I can not train (regarding the stress factor). If your doctor approves, I highly recommend it - I believe it could even lower your blood pressure but since I'm not a doctor, I can't swear to that. Chikara Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I think you're right about lowering blood pressure. But, if you do Sanchin and hold the tension in your face, your blood pressure will go way up and break vessels. But, not if done correctly I believe. Are there any medical doctors or nurses on here? Chikara karate es el amor de mi vida.
fallenyuyu Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Great post encompasing a general effect of martial arts. Marital arts not only helped my attiude but also improved my stamina and my general health a great deal.
brokenswordx Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 The 3rd and 4th paragraph sum it up for me. <3
Ranpu Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 before I started training in Isshinryu Karate, I was like a turtle that would never come out of its shell, but now, I'm in the best shape of my life, and I have alot of self-esteem, and respect for others I cannot prevent the wind from blowing, but I can adjust my sails to make it work for me
