patusai Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Your post is the first time I heard about it...although, I must say, I do not have my hand on the pulse of MA anymore. Sounds interesting though. "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
gateqway Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 My latest black belt mag had a good artical about it. I think it will be good for martial arts. I think it is a matter of it getting enough TV time in order to get people interested. I'm sure there are people like me who are not interested in seeing every fight go to the ground. If you are a boxing fan you would not want to see matches end up grappling either. This is my opinion but I like stand-up fighting.Yeh same here, the first I read about it was from Blackbelt Magazine. Sounds very interesting indeed, I would definately enjoy watching it. UFC/Pride is great, but gets pretty boring always seeing guys rolling on the matt and getting tired. I wana see some ACTION Most people’s compassion and kindness are bounded by threats of their interest. People respond to irritancies will dire actions and speech, which is magnified by grudge, competitiveness and fear.
tkdan Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 On 9/22/06 it will be in Austin tx. I plan to attend. I will post about it after I go. Tickets are not cheap.
ps1 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 So is it basically team kickboxing? Sounds odd. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
superfighter Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 i think its a brilliant idea, i love my grappling as much as anybody. but im also a stand up enthusiast. the competitors are encouraged to get stuck in as soon as the referee says the word go!. the fights are frantic, no stalling, just action. Allot of the streetfights ive seen over the passed few years somewhat resembled what i saw here, with less technique obviously lol.A different approach and i very much approve
DONO Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Also, sweeps, grabs, and throws aren't allowed. You're not allowed to grab your opponents kicking leg and sweep him/her to the ground. In fact, the rules specifically state that judo techniques are prohibited. They probably do this to prevent any clinching or "stand-up wrestling" from occurring, but there are other ways to prevent that such as allowing grabbing to occur on only one side of the body at a time and only for a few seconds.Mr. Norris made those rules so that the most striking action can occur within each round. It's for the fans. Let's face it, the amount of time it takes to actually do something interesting from a mount in the UFC is too long and it's boring. The only way of reaching the limits of the possible, is by going beyond them into the impossible...Flying is easy, just throw yourself at the ground as hard as you can and miss. ^_^

I like the stand-up action in boxing, and this would be a much faster paced kickboxing atmosphere. I also like the town-team set-up. It should make things interesting, and set up some nice rivalries. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
