Caz Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I have been taking fencing for about 4 1/2 years and I am interested in starting a martial art. My natural position when I spar with someone (black belt TKD friend) I usually take the fencing stance, left hand doing most of the stuff, left foot forward, and using the fencing footwork. Any advice which martial art would be the most simliar?I'm ranked in the top 8 in North America, so I have the fencing technique almost hardwired into me.Thanks for your responses.
JusticeZero Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 You might see if there's any Savate groups around. If not, some JKD schools use Lee's somewhat fencing-like stance work. Both claim direct ties to Fencing. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
Caz Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 Thanks for the help, but neither of them are in my area, are there any other MA that are related to fencing?
JusticeZero Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I've heard it claimed that Boxing does, but it doesn't seem like it to me. Asian, African, etc. arts are based on their own things. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
