Kumori Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 On average how long do you all train/practice at your house on your own time ? I have just gotten into MA recently and I still havent adopted a good training routine or anything and im looking for averages and ideas.
ncole_91 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 6 hours a week at the dojo, everyday traning at home, all the time thinking about Martial Arts
Eric_ Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Just play arround a bit, and find a training schedule that doesn't interfere with the rest of your life, but that also allows your skill to grow to the level and at the rate you want.
Meguro Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I try to incorporate training into my everyday routine instead of allocating a specific amount of time. For example when I sit down to read or watch TV, instead of sitting on the sofa I'll get into a stretching position on the floor. In the case of a commercial break, I'm apt to knock off some push-ups or sit-ups. Unless you've got a lot of free space, save the kicking and punching for the dojo.
karatekid1975 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I do TKD mon, thurs, and sat. I do Jujitsu on friday or saturday. Training at home depends on my work schedule and dojang activities (outside of training). I try to train when I get free time. Usually saturday nights (if I don't have Jujitsu) and one other day a week for about an hour. Laurie F
Soni33 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I have two jobs unfortunately. I work Mon - Fri full time, i also work Fri & Sat nights, i go to Karate Tuesday nights, and also go to college on Thursday nights, and i also have two young children of 18 months and 5. So, the only nights i get to myself are Sunday and Wednesday, of which i spend with my family, so i find the only time i can train is early in the morning, i normally start at 6 and finish at 7, then its a mad rush to get the kids up, washed, and dressed, before taking them to the child minder and getting to work myself, as my Wife starts work at 6 so its all up to me in the morning - and its a mad rush http://www.sonifenton-scott.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
orion82698 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I was stretching/kicking/practicing almost everyday. Still stretching, just not practicing. Looking for a different art to study I don't have to be the best, just better than you!Working towards 11% BF and a Six pack
Aodhan Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 On average how long do you all train/practice at your house on your own time ? I have just gotten into MA recently and I still havent adopted a good training routine or anything and im looking for averages and ideas.I work from 7-4 Monday through Friday. When I get home I generally do some kind of a weight workout or aerobic workout. I usually get to the dojangh about 6:30-7:00, and am there usually at least 2 hours. So, 10+ hrs a week at the dojangh, and 5+ hours at home.Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
ninjanurse Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Not an hour goes by that I don't think about something pertaining to my training....be it a technique I am working on or a form (kata), etc. I am constantly visualizing technique and situations and even fall asleep while thinking about it! As for physical training, I am still on the mend and work out lightly about 30 minutes daily...and run 3 days a week.
