Kumori Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Akkkk , I can't decide what weapon I wanna learn!!I have limited it down to Bo staff , Kama , or Nunchuku (sp?) HELP ME
b3n Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Bo Staff would probably the most realistic weapon to use. Could be a pool cue etc... My Nidan Grading! JimmyNewton Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 go for all 3.just take your time. you have alifetime to continue learning.as far as which one first. start with bo as that will be like a foundation to build upon with other weapons. orion82698 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 The Bo I don't have to be the best, just better than you!Working towards 11% BF and a Six pack
MenteReligieuse Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Bo is the simplest, most usefull and great work out. From the Bo staff principles you can probably learn the other weapons more easily. My favorite weapon is the spear though
Hitman Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Well, depends... As has been pointed out, Bo is very applicable to everyday items like a pool cue or a broom. However, many Kama applications can be used with things like a fireplace poker, chair leg, or even a toilet plunger. In my opinion, I'd go with kama...simply because it is a 2 weapon thing. You should already be used to fighting 2-handed since you HAVE 2 HANDS! 2 weapons makes it MUCH easier for you to get a "feel" for your weapons as they more easily become an extension of your hands. I'm not exactly sure how to put it...the staff simply feels different. maybe it's that you can let go of the staff with one hand- you can get disconnected. If you let go of your kama...well, bad things will happen. The kama also have a definate aura of MEANNESS about them. They are a weapon that just seems to strike fear into people. Also, EVERYONE seems to do a staff kata at tournies...do a kama kata and you will immediately have people's attention. just my opinion... shi wa hei to de aru"All are equal in the grave"
Zaine Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Learn the bo as a starting weapon and work your way up. The bo is the most basic weapon there is and is easy to learn. The king of all weapons, some call it. The kama is just an extention of the hand and the nunchuku is to hard to control to learn as a starting weapon. Son Goku the monkeyking Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 i say bo staff for beginers because i do not know whAT level ur at or if tis is ur first weapon.PEACE
fylcon Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Interestingly enough we must learn the kama at as part of our blue belt. But when we become green belts we're give the option of learning both Bo and Nunchuka. However of the optional classes, the bo is the least well attended. My understanding is that more people find the kata's associated with the bo more difficult. I however love the bo and if I had to make one choice, bo it would be. While I'm not sure I believe we need to master at least 1 of our optional weapons for our BBfylcon
unknownstyle Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 id go with bo, then work up to nunckuku, then when youve got those kama "Live life easy and peacefully, but when it is time to fight become ferocious."
