KingPO Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 hey guys,im 17 years old from florida, i want to learn MA and make it a hobby for me , these days i really need something to get me busy and take me away from stress. I want to have a very good experience in MA, im not sure with the style but i really liked the Muay thai which the style they used in a movie of kickboxer, it is kind of slow for me though, i like faster defending and attacking style that bruce lee used . There are alot of experts in here that i would like to be like them some day, but exactly how many years will it take me to become a experienced MA and have more confidince in my self, is it too late for me to even bother or am in a good age to start from scratch , im asking this because my 8 year old cousin is already a yellow belt so it makes me feel emberassed thanks for suggestions
pineapple Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Hi Mr young 17 old! Just think that at 37 years of age, you will have 20 years of martial arts experience. What works works
vertigo Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Welcome to the forums, KingPO ...is it too late for me to even bother......And no; not even close. If you're only 17, you're already younger than I was when I started - at 18, a year ago. And I'm pretty sure there are others around here who started later than either of us. You're never too old to start learning.. "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." - T. S. Eliot

Hawkeye Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Hi and welcome to KF. I started martial arts in my thirties. Trust me it is NOT to late to start. The trick is to just start.
