the December issue of Shotomag is now available on https://www.shotomag.com. You have to register to read the articles but there's no charge.

I just registered. Great start. I hope they continue. Some great articles for a free magazine. I wonder how they can make any money to stay in business...

Man, that ShotoMag just keeps getting better. Something new and exciting in every issue. I think they still have some work to do but it's off to a great start.

I just tried to get to shotomag.com and it said site was moved or temporarily out of service ( or something like that). Anyone else able to log on?

It has always been OK for me. I just wish they had a reminder when a new issue comes out. Great stuff, but I sometimes forget to check for a new issue every 2 months.

Mmm...only had a brief look at the site, but doesn't look all that appealing to me.

Too much focus on Shotokan for my liking, but for those interested in Shotokan and Japanese Karate, it could be of some use.

Many other magazines, including Inside Karate, Karate Illustrated and Karate/Kung-Fu Illustrated, have gone the way of the dodo bird. Both the internet and cable/satellite television have done a number to the print industry, but specialty mags/newspapers still find their niches.

There is a classic fighting arts, or classic martial arts magazine that I've seen that seems pretty good. It's fairly expensive and fairly short page wise, but it seems ok. I've looked at it at Borders, but haven't purchased a copy as I always seem to be short of cash when I find a good copy.

I have a subscription to this magazine myself and highly reccomend it! I even have a Meijin gi that I just got recently that is advertised in their magazines, great gi for the price!

A good read is a magazine called "classical fighting arts" a quarterly publication.

Also The journal of Asian Martial Arts is and excellent read. It is also a quarterly.

I pick them up at Borders bookstore as I get issues that interest me. I don't like to do subscriptions.

Fairfaxuechi allready commented on this and I highly agree, I have a subscription to it. Harry Cook, one of the writers in the magazine is also a regular poster on e-budo.

Just a note Dragon Times is now Classical Fighting Arts Magazine. It is a great publication on traditional martial arts. It is mainly karate based but some articles on chinese martial arts. I highly recomend Journal Of Asian Martial Arts. Very upscale.. But Black Belt magazine is a monthly grab for me again lately just sort through some of the junk and you will find some good information.

Also a newwe one is Budo International which Borders has started carrying.
