knowledgetree Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 Yes, Koshokun and Kanku kata are variatons on the sme theme. It is very interesting to have two practitioners perform these kata together. I try to avoid learning variations, ather focusing on one preentation of a kata true to what is transmitted.Winter and pass conditions may delay a visit to Boise to Spring. Please email me to discuss the possibility further. "Persistence outweighs natural ability.""If we were interested in using brute force alone it would not be karate."
patusai Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 You know Chibana Kusanku or any of the others that Chibana taught as Chibana taught? "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
knowledgetree Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 Sorry no. I googled this info for you. Apparently, there is a video of Chibana Sensei kata. I would suggest contacting the primary website and requesting information or locations of sensei who can transmit this Shorin-Ryu / Shuri-Te kata to you.http://www.toyei.com/ChosinChibana.html "Persistence outweighs natural ability.""If we were interested in using brute force alone it would not be karate."
