opening up a MA franchise

Recommended Posts

as my career for my life after high school, and college i have chosen to become a sifu and open up my own academy, then my own franchise and a question that i was wondering about is how could someone open up there own franchise like, tracy's or Parker Lee but, since i would be a unheard of name, it would be kinda, tell me what would be a good way to open up a MA franchise and be succesesful like, Tracy or P.Lee.

I'm not 100% sure of what you're asking.

It seems to me that if you open up your own school, make it a good one that lasts a number of years and gains your school and consequently, name, a reputation, then if you decide to franchise out your school, you might have some takers.

The question you have yo ask yourself as a business owner is, what would make you invest in a franchise?

Do a business studies course on opening your own business. You will need to look around and get a number of instructors to help you you may want to teach all different styles with yourself just doing the kung fu element

The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.

most ppl start their own franchises in Martial Arts because they did something amazing like won lots of tournaments or was in a movie

Read up on starting your own dojo or martial art school.

If you can think of a catchy phrase that's great!

If you include the phrase 'Martial Arts' then be sure to teach or offer, both kung fu AND karate. Or Taijiquan (the martial type not geriatric) along with karate, and or external kung fu. Or perhaps judo or jujutsu along with some other MA system.

Just some thoughts...Good Luck!

The main reason that people purchase a franchise, as opposed to opening their own independant business is the advantages that a franchise situation has re: advertising, etc.

McDonalds are all franchises. They pay the franchise fee, operate according to directions from the HQ, they have their advertising paid for, central ordering, etc etc.

So, if you want to start a martial arts franchise, you need to figure out what advantage to your franchisee's will be, and go from there.

Actually, Step one needs to be...train in the system that you want to teach for the franchise. For example, you mentioned Tracy kenpo. You're not currently training in that system...right? So how are you going to open a Tracy kenpo school...and not know a thing about Tracy kenpo?

As for the other guy, Parker Lee..what system does he do? Are you training in that system currently?

what is it that you want?

do you want to open a school that is successful and has the capability to be sold out as a franchise?

or

buy a franchise and run it?

generally, in both cases, my advice is to educate yourself first.
