spinninggumby Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Even though there has always been the tendency to put down Van Damme (my own personal opinion aside 'Conviction is a luxury for those on the sidelines'William Parcher, 'A BEAUTIFUL MIND'
van_damme Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Good point spinninggumby..very good point!!!  When you put water into a cup,it becomes the cup. When you put water in a T-Pot,it becomes the T-Pot..be water my friend!!
Phantasmatic Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 That is a good point Gumby. I really think that all the crap that is said about Van Damme is that he was a ballerina..is that true or false?? "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
van_damme Posted May 29, 2002 Posted May 29, 2002 Ehh..actually that is true.Ballait (dunno how to spell it)..helped him with leg strength and flexibilty, all though ppl think that its for girls, the dudes who do it are actually very sporty.. When you put water into a cup,it becomes the cup. When you put water in a T-Pot,it becomes the T-Pot..be water my friend!!
Don Gwinn Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 Hapkido Cougar, I think we might be talking about different movies. A lot of stuff has different titles in different countries (sometimes five or six of the same title in the same country.) This would be a JC Van Damme movie in which he plays Frank Dux. He learns ninjutsu from a Japanese man in the U.S., then goes to Japan to fight in the "Kumite," an underground fighting tournament for people from around the world in which anything goes and sometimes the fighters die. He gets cheated by the champ, Chong Li (Bolo Yeung, who never seems to age a day) but wins in the end because he was trained in fighting blindfolded. The only problem is that, from what I hear, Frank Dux is a total fraud. Either there is no "Kumite," or there is such a contest but they call it something different and have never heard of Frank Dux. Dux also claims to have been a CIA operative, assassin, etc. Also fake, from what I hear. Anyway, if you like cheesy martial arts movies with interesting fighting and not much else, Bloodsport is pretty good. The sequels, on the other hand, are horrible. Remember "Cody" from "Step by Step?" The stoner cousin? He's the hero of all the bloodsport sequels and he's horrible. ____________________________________* Ignorant Taekwondo beginner.http://www.thefiringline.com

Zin-Ju Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 van_damme, yeah he was sent to a ballet school in france we was very little and had to live with another family or something but there was also a karate center next door which he also joined. he ended up being far better in karate then the ballet so he started up bodybuilding to get into heavier tournamets. i think he made the right choice
