I just ordered a belt from Eosin-Panther. Just my name on one end & my style on the other (both in Korean). No stripes, or rank. I plan to wear it for a long time. Hopefully, my focus will always be on improving, not on my accomplishments. :karate:

I want to do the same thing but my instructor insists on the belt he gave me......kind of overdone.......but he wrapped it around my waist so, that's the way it is.

I have my original black belt in a case display. I got a new one that I've had for 3 years now. One side is my name, and in Korean on the other is my TKD philosphy: Grace, Power and Precision.

I've been involved with TKD for quite a while now, my original BB is in a box. I think it was a size 3, I'm now a size 6. I have a total of 8 different black belts from 3 TKD orgs. I would like one generic black belt "Master Adam D. Huntley" on one side "Taekwondo" on ther other.

all colours of belts in TKD have meaning

White - Innocence and no former knowledge

Yellow - The roots of knowledge in the art growing

Green - The plant of knowledge growing

Blue - The plant reached the sky

Red - The participator must exercise caution

Black - The participator is deadly

i believe that the true traning in TKD starts when you are a black belt as that is when you are mature and have the ability to perform but maybe the knowledge and philisophical areas are lacking in perfection

I have been in two systems. I am a 2nd degree and certified instructor through the ATA. When I moved to go to college, I joined a different school and organization. The instructor made me start all over from white belt. I didn't complain about it though, because the forms and one-steps where different from my previous system. However, by recognizing my previous training, he allowed me to skip some ranks a few times. I got to 1st degree in his system in about a year.

My motivation was that the belt I was wearing did not matter; I knew whay my capabilities were. I kind of have a mental perception of what "rank" I am.

I see some of the students around me and say to myself "I've been there." Then I look at some other students and say "That's where I need to be."

Even reaching 2nd degree in two different organizations, I realize that I still have a lot to learn.
