Belasko Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 I have to side with the majority. You really shouldn't have to choose. As long as you are paying your fees at the one place, what does he have to complain about? If he knows this person at the GF club is still into drugs and stuff, that's another situation entirely that he should inform you of. Otherwise it's just a grudge thing. I would continue at both and just not say anything to him. If he asks you to leave, maybe it for the best anyway . Getting a blackbelt just says you have learned the basics and are ready to actually study the form as an art.
Protoman7000 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Yes, you should continue doing both. Though it may seem a little disrespectful to your teacher, he has no right to try and influence your personal life.
jaymac Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Ok, since this post was originally from Oct. 2005, what did you do mischieviousjoe? A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
Mischievousjoe Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 ahh sorry have been busy lately. I ended up stopping the groundfighting for the remainder of the smeester, and then the next semester I quit the karate dojo and focused on the grappling. Although this left me with no training for striking this last semester which is unfortunate, I still practiced on my own and have some good opportunities to train this summer. No ill feelings on my side really , but it was an unfortunate situation, I would much rather be doing both. ahh well.... "I once thought that life was a mixed bag, now I know it's just a bag of all"
