massa Posted October 25, 2005 Share Posted October 25, 2005 Can someone talk to me?i train WC for more than a year, but i always had a big issue with the primary base. this position left my back and my hip pointing foward, making my body looking very non-atletic (i like to workout).All my life i had a bad body posture, but the gym help me alot, after i start my WC trainning, my bad posture return stronger.i like WC alot and i train in the best dojo of the city (4 millions hab) but i have to obtain a good posture, is a promess that i make to myself when i was younger.i have 21 years now. Are you sure you have a correct WC stance?Yes your shoulders should be slightly forward, but relaxed, no strains on the back. Both your thighs and quads (not sure of the names here, you know, the front and back muscles of your upper leg) should both be getting stronger, preventing any muscular imbalance which could affect posture.If I look at my sifu and the most advanced students, I don't see any abnormal postures. The differing martial art systems are not merely due to different interpretations and experiences, but different body structures, physiques. If after a year of study you find that wc hurts your posture and health, then either you're doing it wrong or it is simply not compatible with your body structure (we're all abnormal to one degree or another).The goal is to improve, so improve with a different style. White Warlock Posted October 31, 2005 Share Posted October 31, 2005 lol Mental.The military posture puts an inordinate amount of pressure on your mid back area, it 'forces' the spine to be straight, which is not its normal state (spines are 'naturally' curved).
