choppingfiend Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 So I picked up a book this weekend and turns out it has all this martial arts stuff in it...It's called the Traveler by John Twelve Hawks and is kind of Matrix-y, scifi stuff. Pretty cool... They mention Capoeria, Karate, and Kickboxing. Pretty good read in my opinion. Anyone else read it?
Sengra Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 so, what's the storyline?Plot?Haven't read it though... The stronger swordsman does not always win.
Du Hast Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I've read it. It's a pretty good book, although the genre is a bit worn out (secret societies, hidden wars that control the fate of the world, etc.). It has an almost cyberpunk sort of feel to it to me, although it isn't a "hacker" type of story at all. It reminds me a little bit of William Gibson, and even more of Neal Stephenson. It is a FAST read though. I think I finished it in a couple of sittings. I'll read the next in the series I think. It think this is the first book from this author. If so, wow what a start!I would have liked it better if it had some judo or ju-jitsu.
choppingfiend Posted October 25, 2005 Author Posted October 25, 2005 Yeah I thought it was pretty cool myself. Definitely full of conspiracy theories ...makes sense when I read it was edited by the same guy who did DaVinci Code. And you're right Du Hast...it's a trilogy! I think it's gonna be great and definitely recommend.
choppingfiend Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 I realized I never answered the question about the plot... Hmm...it's very complicated! Let me send you to a better resource...Amazon:http://tinyurl.com/7e55v
