RedRaven Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 My dad takes Krava maga, and im going to be starting Judo. What does everyone think of combining the two?
Menjo Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 good, however i would get a good solid base on one and then mix them and tweek your style and moves "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
glockmeister Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 It would be great to mix the two since Judo is big on sweeps and throws, something Krav Maga lacks. "You know the best thing about pain? It let's you know you're not dead yet!"http://geshmacheyid.forumotion.com/f14-self-defense
pineapple Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Good combo because they're not conflicting in techniques........do it! What works works
White Warlock Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I would say use Judo as your base, or foundation style. Krav Maga can present some very important 'reality' concepts, but as far as the physicalities are concerned, it is an 'application' style, not a 'principles' style. I.e., not indepth, in comparison to judo. "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro
ravenzoom Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 You're extremely lucky if you can combine both, I'd love to have that chance. This is what I would really like to to do. Judo as foundation plus Krav Maga for striking and different self defense principles.
Anbu Alex Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I always thought that Krav Maga had trows and locks hmmmm well if not its good to have both cause at first i wasnt a fan of throws untill i saw someone thrown on their head White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
White Warlock Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Krav maga has throws. It has a little of everything. As previously stated, it is not a system, per se... but a collection of applications. "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro
Tengu22 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Judo will be great for helping learn how to manipulate balance and will help you build a ground game. The in-depths throwns/pins/locks/submissions of Judo will greatly inhance and supplement what you learn from Krav Maga, and Krav Maga will help you visualize how to use them in real life situations, whereas Judo is mostly just for sport.
