marie curie
I'm looking for some handpads that will be appropriate for striking, but allow gripping the other person's body and gi for takedowns. Anyone have ideas? marie curie
Thanks!!!I do Kajukenbo which is primarily a striking art, but almost every sequence of techniques we learn involves (or we add on) a take-down. The first ones look more protective, and the second ones more condusive with the gripping component.Do you think the thinner gloves would be ok to use in sparring? If not, those mostly open-handed thicker gloves look like they may be ok for take-downs. Pacificshore
In regards to the thinner gloves for sparring, that would depend on your level of control in regards to punching and any other hand strikes.I can't see why using your normal foam type sparring gloves couldn't accomplish the same thing in regards to grabbing for a throw. I know that when I use my run of the mill foam hand gear, so long as I have an open palm, I can still make grabs. JAKEHE3078
Im sure these would work well for what your looking for.http://kicktech.net/adidas_gloves.html You do not need to be flexible to do a Jodan (head kick), if your opponent is already on the ground.
