makosub-wrestling
In our class we start on at least one knee during live grap. I am looking for some new moves to play with from this postion. What works best for you guys? right now I pancake them or crunch them with head and shoulder control or just grab a single leg. I am not a big fan of pulling guard or those who do, it seems like a weak move, unless you have a strong guard ( which I do not!).
SubGrappler
Ankle picks are always a welcomed option. If your guard is weak though, thats all the more reason to pull. You should be trying to improve in training rather than simply beat your opponents.
Ego Assassin
If you are training with gracie barra in florida you should have all this info from the source. Is your instructor Marcio Simas? Ego Assassin
My name is Cliff and I train under Luiz Palhares. I had the privilege of hanging out with Marcio for a week before the Pan Ams. I'll send you our website address on your private message. kenpo4life
Check out Roy Harris's takedown from the knees If my survival means your total destruction, then so be it.
TJS
Honestly I dont fight much for takedowns when we start from the knees. Your gaurd isint going ot get any better unless you staet working on it and that is a good time. That dosent mean im a guard puller. When we start standing I fight for the takedown more than most people will.
Adonis
I am not very good with take down from the knee's. I usually just poll the persons head down and put my chest on there upper back if they don't stop me I just spin around for the pesons back. Only really works on low level white belts though. Other wise I just pull to half guard or guard especially if the guy is bigger then me. I know others like steping with one leg across to there other side like your going for a hip throw to toss them over. I am not very good at that move and get taken down my self so I stopped going for it. any one have some particulary good moves for starting from the knees. For take downs. I can pull guard that isn't hard to do. I am not a big fan of doing it though.
