My instructor has nothing agains me wanting to cross train or even try another similar dojo. In the end I am the ONE to do whatever I want with my time and money.

This is true. In the end, MA is a commodity like anything else.

My opinion is that you are the boss as far where and when (and what) you are going to train in. Your instructor works for you.

1 agree 100%, you are a paying customer. In my opinion if an instructor doesn't want you to cross train perhaps he's afraid you might discover that what he is teaching you is worthless.

Maybe its not that you'll find out what you're learning there is worthless or no good, persay. But that you may like it better. They've invested (hopefully) themselves in you. If you go away (worst case happens) it may seem like a betrayal to some.

Betrayal is a harsh word, most folks train at a plain old dojo/dojang not a Shaolin Temple or have been taught "Teh deadly" ninja secrets.

I'm not saying it is betrayal (or meant to be by the student) but can be perceived by the instructor as such. That's all I'm saying.

My instructor would not be happy with my decision with me studeing another style, but in all reallity I would feel more unhappy with myself. I feel that whatever my instructor is offering to me that is what I would stick with, I feel like my alliegence and trust are in his teachings and is enough, and to me studeing another style would be dissrespecting him in the greatest way. :karate:
